Review: Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton
Definitely a ‘packet of chips’ book. You know you should stop, but you can’t help gobbling it all up.
‘Jurassic Park’ reads like a movie script, which I suppose is what it really is.
The simple writing style is surely part of the fun. It’s digestible and fast paced. A great breather between heavier books.
I liked the ‘sciencey’ vibe with heavy doses of Hollywood magic. (Expect creativity, not accuracy).
I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy reading Jurassic Park. However it doesn’t leave much of a lasting impression.
Having read it, I can now confidently say ‘Just watch the movie!’.
Of course some aspects of the book have aged poorly. For example, the character of the younger sister as a naive and helpless female character, and the author always making sure to mention that the service staff are black. The movie depicts race and gender so much better! Just watch the movie!
