Review: The Lottery by Shirley Jackson

‘The Lottery’ makes me want to gasp “Golly! That was frightful!” and then go to the milk bar for a banana split with my chaperone and forget all about it.

Published in 1948, this story is often used as a touchstone to compare other books to, so I knew I had to tick it off.

It’s a neat little story, but it seemed like horror LITE to me.

I want a retelling of ‘The Lottery’ where the murdered housewife rises up and gets her supernatural vengeance on the mob!
