Review: Dragon Teeth by Michael Crichton

Easy breezy fun

Honestly, what a nice time.

This one is not about to win a Pulitzer. But it does what it intended to do, and that is to tell a light-hearted adventure story about the hunt for dinosaur bones in the old American West.

Like Crichton’s other books, this was definitely written with the cinema in mind. It’s like going on a misguided tour through the West, featuring the rivalry between the famous palaeontologists Marsh and Cope, and a young protagonist having the adventure of a lifetime.

If you want something that will keep your attention without requiring any brainwork, ‘Dragon Teeth’ is perfect. For me it was a refreshing palate cleanser between heavier books.

I enjoyed it for what it is, but this is no ‘must read’.

2 out of 5 valuable vertebrae.
